One of my favorite Christmas authors has a charming Christmas movie on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel…Debbie Macomber!
Here it is…Dashing Through The Snow
ABOUT THE FILM (from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries page): Based on a novel by Debbie Macomber, this yuletide movie tells the story of Ashley Harrison (Meghan Ory) and Dash Sutherland (Andrew Walker). She is a crafter based in San Francisco who is desperate to spend the holidays with her family in Seattle and Dash is also in a rush to get there. When Ashley inexplicably encounters a problem with her reservation at the airport ticket counter, she turns to Plan B and attempts to rent a car. But there’s just one vehicle left and Dash beats her to it. Reluctantly, Ashley takes him up on his offer to join him on the road trip. As the pair heads north, their adventures include car trouble, adopting a puppy and being secretly tailed by federal agents, who believe Ashley is up to no good. With a hint of romance gradually filling the air will these two fall in love or will their journey bring about an unexpected road bump to romance?
STARRING: Meghan Ory (Ashley), Andrew Walker (Dash), Rukiya Bernard (Agent Hobbs), Aaron Craven (Agent Monroe)
MY REVIEW: Dashing Through The Snow hits the ground running with Ashley heading off to spend Christmas with her family unfortunately some events get in the way and the quick flight she plans is not in her future, but a car ride with a pretty handsome stranger is on the horizon.
Only in a Hallmark movie would a woman agree to a more than 10 hour drive across state lines with a complete stranger, but it also seems that only Ashley would be the character to do so. Although Ashley starts of pretty unnerved about Dash taking the last rental car, she gets over it pretty quickly and presents a kind, sweet spirited nature. She sees the world through the most brightly colored light. My son found this a little trying but I found it delightful. It was a reminder to me that there is no reason to not search for joy in all circumstances.
What I liked: I loved Ashley’s attitude. She saw good in so many circumstances. She rubbed off on everyone around her. I loved that she was in touch with her corny side.
What I’d like to see tweaked: Ashley really wanted to get to see her mom for Christmas but insisted on lots of little stops along the way. If you are in a hurry, you probably aren’t going to be quite so insistent on making stops. I haven’t read the book so I plan to in order to see how this execution may have differed from the book. By the way, I love when a movie makes me want to read a book.
RECOMMENDATION: If you are looking for a Christmas movie with some bright moments, this is a great one to see. If you are likely to get hung up on the reality of the situation…you might want to pass. It is definitely one for the dreamer.
I have not seen Dashing Through The Snow available to purchase, but you can definitely watch it on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel while it is still making the rounds.
I give Dashing Through the Snow three candy canes.
