It is that time again! I am happy to be joining in Five Minute Friday with all the wonderful folks that stop by Kate Motaung‘s blog each week to write with utter abandon for five minutes following the weekly one-word prompt that Kate provides on Thursday evenings. There is so much more to learn about it. Find out all about Five Minute Friday here. And check out today’s prompt and those who have started earlier here.
The prompt this week is: MIDDLE (Does not have to be solid capped by the way. I just thought being bold would be fun).
Thanks to my awesome husband Scott Blackwell for this picture. 🙂
GO
This worked very well for me as a DJ and it still works for me when people call me up and ask me the name of a song they heard with “Jesus” in it. No offence it just happens a lot at a Christian radio station. I ask if they can pull a few more words out of their minds and I WILL know the song. An old boss called it a talent. I think it is just something that comes along with being a part of my generation.
I say that because my husband has it too. This thing with song lyrics. He will hear a word and go for the solo. No joke. Literally he just sang a little bit of “High Hopes” simply because of something a DJ said. Another thing that we both do which truly makes me believe that he was made for me (he is younger than I so he HAD to be made for me and not vice versa) is that we both will parody songs, and I mean any song to fit with whatever is going on. This I blame on Weird Al Yankovic.
Now where was I? Ah yes…middle. A bit scattered today but it is what it is. Sorry to have dragged you in a bit of a tangent there, but that is kind of what my generation does too. Or I think so anyway. And I give Dennis Miller the credit for that.
STOP
Don’t forget that you can join in or just read different interpretations of today’s prompt here.

Visiting as your neighbor from FMF 🙂 And I have the same problem.. But another aspect of it is city names, like when we’re driving long distances. If there’s a song with that city’s name in it, it will pop in my head instantly.. LOL
Kelly says
Oh my goodness! We do that too! Thanks for stopping by neighbor! 🙂

Visiting from FMF, and my brain works in the same way! Often I have a song in my head and I have no idea why, then I realise someone has said a word or phrase from the lyrics and that’s the association my mind has made. I’m glad it’s not just me!
Kelly says
That happens to me too! I guess it could be worse. But man sometimes it takes forever to get those songs out. Thanks for visiting!

Hi! Visiting from FMF!
I will often have songs going through my mind for no apparent reason! But, I just cannot seem to think of lyrics on demand. It’s weird. The song has to just naturally pop in, or it doesn’t work. 🙂
I enjoyed reading your post. You have a naturally fun writing voice.
Have a good week!
Heidi

It’s funny. I can think of songs or get stuck on songs way easier than I can remember names. I might need to do some sort of word association with songs and names. Now to think on it. Thanks so much for stopping by!
