Hello! I hope you had a wonderful Good Friday. I’m excited about joining in another Five Minute Friday. Five minutes of free writing with a word prompt, no worries about anything but tapping the keyboard and led by our Kate Motaung. You can join in by heading to this link.
Today’s prompt is: Next
GO!
I don’t know if it is because my mind is on overdrive from the week or if this is just a plain moment of not really knowing where to go, but next is not speaking out to me too well. It is funny because I have definitely felt the move to whatever is next. Sometimes I look for what is next before I really finish with what is on deck. Today what is next is simply finish and finish well. I will move onto the next thing and the next best thing but first I must learn patience with the process. I haven’t been terribly good at that.
My main goal is to not be a quitter. In that end I am slowly reading Nicki Koziarz “5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit.” I’ve owned the book for a year and I only now picked it up. Kind of hard to be a quitter when you don’t even start right? To be honest I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t ready to not quit. I wasn’t ready to stick with it. Not with the book but with whatever came my way. When things got tough, I would allow myself to get distracted by the next thing that appealed to me which would simply distract me from potential failure, but also distract me from potential. God’s potential that he breathed into me. I am pretty sure that this is a little smoke and mirror trick that Satan has initiated at times. I get distracted by the next shiny object. Not this time. Slow and steady, persevere, and complete the task at hand even if it takes a while. Because in the long run my goal is this…I simply do not want to look back a year from now and wish that I had stuck with it.
STOP
Family time. Got to go. I pray you have a beautiful Easter.

I love the idea of your next thing being to finish and finish well. Sometimes I forget that in my expectation of all the nexts. Thanks for that.
visiting as your FMF neighbor 🙂

Thank you so much Erika. The finishing is tough stuff isn’t it? Well at least for me. I seem to get distracted by the next cool thing, but I believe it is finally happening. 🙂

I agree, it’s easy to get distracted from the next thing God is calling us to do, especially when it’s something hard or which requires perseverance. It’s definitely worth it though. The book sounds good – I haven’t read that one but I have read her other book “Why Her?” and it was really helpful. Hope you have a lovely Easter!

Oh I have “Why Her” but haven’t had the chance to read it yet. I think God will tap me on the shoulder for that one too. 🙂 Thank you so much for visiting Lesley. I had a wonderful Easter. I hope you did too.
