I have a back story of why my eating changed a few years ago, but I am not going into it now. What I AM going to do right now is celebrate a victory…Just me and this screen.
Yesterday I drank my three big bottles of water…half my weight in the big OZ and after dinner last night a craving hit…
Potato chips. Specifically Salt and Vinegar. Oh so tasty and oh so CALLING MY NAME!
I did something different. I didn’t write down the craving -I really do need to start doing that- I DID analyze my craving.
I asked myself, “Are you still hungry?”
“No.”
“Sooooo why do you want a potato chip?”
“I want to taste them.”
My response “I don’t think you can eat one chip so the taste will probably look like a bowl. How about we wait until the weekend and look again?”
“You know what? I can do that.”
I have read that writing why you want to eat something before you eat it can help with things like binging and for this woman who is an eating disorder survivor, I need to do the thinking. It has been a day but I’m pretty happy.
