I am growing to love the Hallmark Channel and their Christmas movies! If you have this channel, get in on these awesome movies that lightly get you into the Christmas spirit with a little romance and a lot of fun. Okay…sometimes a lot of romance too, but definitely on the lighter brighter side.
Today I want to share movie number two on my “Hey, this is pretty great!” Christmas movie review. I chose A Boyfriend for Christmas today because my husband had to work and he looked through my list of Christmas movie hopefuls and chose this as the one he really was okay with missing. Something about being fine with missing “another Patrick Muldoon show.” Not that I have a long list of Patrick Muldoon movies, but I am pretty sure we have seen at least three other Christmas movies with Patrick Muldoon as the male lead and maybe a complicated romance too. You know how it is, some actors find themselves later in their careers in certain genres of tv movies. Me, I’m cool with Patrick Muldoon, he was also in Melrose Place and there was a time in life where the only reasons I could deal with Mondays was because of Melrose Place. Oh…another side note…Erica Gimple, Coco from Fame the television series from WAY back in my teens is also in A Boyfriend for Christmas which was kind of fun to say the least.
So on to Christmas movie review 2: A Boyfriend for Christmas
A Boyfriend for Christmas
–Hallmark Christmas Movie
–About the movie– (From Hallmark site) Holly Grant is a child advocate who learned a long time ago not to rely on Santa Claus to leave Mr. Right in her Christmas stocking. She made a wish 20 years before, but it never came true. However, hard-working Holly is in for a surprise when a handsome man arrives on her doorstep with a twinkle in his eye and Yuletide tree in tow.
–Cast– Kelli Williams as Holly Grant, Patrick Muldoon as Ryan Hughes, and Charles Durning as Santa Claus.
–My Review– When I see a title like A Boyfriend for Christmas, I kind of expect something sappy and heavy handed, but I took a chance because I was so pleasantly surprised by another Hallmark Christmas movie. I am glad I did. Although a bit slow moving at first, A Boyfriend for Christmas is worth sticking with. Holly is a woman with strong convictions and perhaps an iron fist when it comes to someone disappointing her. This causes Ryan to hold back a little bit on who he is, but it is her heart that has captured Ryan and as she gets to know him, Holly’s heart also softens and bends. Nothing moves too seamlessly in a Hallmark Christmas movie and A Boyfriend for Christmas is no exception. There are some challenges to face which of course will make you wonder if, but Holly and Ryan face them together? Check it out and find out. What you will find for sure is a well acted romance with some great secondary characters. Holly’s family is fun to watch and her friends are pretty good too though a little stereotyped. All in all, A Boyfriend for Christmas is a light and breezy romance which definitely brings charm and smiles. It is definitely a movie that will get you into a nice Christmas mood. I think this is a good one to watch with friends and a significant other or spouse. The subject matter isn’t risque at any stretch of the word, but it isn’t a movie that would thrill the kids. Though I wouldn’t worry about them being around while it was on.
AND some great news is although not streaming (I DVRd this sweet film from the Hallmark Channel), you can catch A Boyfriend for Christmas on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, December 6th at 10 pm 9 pm c. Who knows? Maybe they’ll pop it on a little bit more as the month goes along. You can also purchase A Boyfriend for Christmas at Amazon.
