It has been a quest in the Blackwell household to watch as many Christmas movies as possible, and share the ones we like. There are definitely stinkers out there, but why waste time on those. Plus there is usually something redeemable even in the less than stellar ones.
Today I had a trip down memory lane by watching a Tori Spelling Christmas movie. Not a trip down memory lane because I had seen it before, but, it’s Tori Spelling and there was a time when 90210 was a big part of my life. No shame here. 🙂 So here we go…
Review number four – A Carol Christmas
–Hallmark Christmas Movie –
–About the movie– An egomaniacal TV talk show host is given a chance for redemption in this modern day take on Charles Dicken’s classic novel A Christmas Carol.
–Cast– Tori Spelling as Carol Cartman, Dina Manoff as Aunt Marla, William Shatner as Dr. Bob/Ghost of Christmas Present, Gary Coleman as Ghost of Christmas Past and Michael Landes as Jimmy
–My Review– I love a new take on A Christmas Carol, and this was a fun one to watch. Carol is a high powered talk show host who pretty much rolls over everyone and any one in her path. Her sole focus is…well…her. Christmas is just another day on the talk show and possibly one of the more inconvenient ones as Carol has to take the time to think of others. Not that she does a very good job of it. Of course as this is a take on A Christmas Carol, you know that Carol is going to soon come face to face with her her innocent past and her most likely not pleasant future. Tori Spelling does a great job as the entitled Carol as she takes a good hard look at her life with her ghostly companions. Gary Coleman is funn and sweet and William Shatner…there is nothing not to love about him. What can I say? Yes the plotline will be fairly predictable and there are a few sappy moments but it is really sweet and well acted. There is not a wooden character in the bunch. A good movie for the family. Not a romantic snuggle on the couch with your loved one type of Christmas movie, but still sweet.
Set your DVR for this one. A Carol Christmas will air again on the Hallmark Channel on December 10th at 4:00 AM/3:00 AM c and of course you can always pick up the DVD at Amazon.
