I am going to keep this short because frankly I need accountability and a measurement of success, but I don’t exactly expect this to be riveting. I am trying to make livable changes. I think most of us know what we can do to lose weight but it can be hard to stick to plans and a lot do not work as good as they used to when you count hypothyroidism, age and frankly not wanting to change my life for my weight, but at this point it is a sad fact… I need a fitness reboot.
The tough stuff:
Weight – 170
Measurements are to come (I just can’t find my measuring tapes), and again this is for accountability. I pray that I will find success.
I read once that it takes 21 days to make a habit. Below are the habits I am going to work on for the next 21 days.
1- Eat intentionally.
I discovered recently that I tend to start eating before I sit down. Part of this is because in our move to Michigan and the cabin in the woods to our current rental we have lacked a dinner table. I have eaten all my meals for the past year on the couch. I end up taking bites before I even sit down. So for the next 21 days and hopefully forever, I will intentionally eat. I will sit down. I will savor the food. I will chew with intention. This may or may not impact my weight. We’ll see.
2- Drink more water.
I am pretty good at this but I need to get better. I have these large 20 ounce bottles and after looking up all kinds of options I have decided to stick with 72 ounces which I gathered from Healthline.com. I have also read something about weight and ounces of water, but not knowing exactly what to do there I am going to drink three of the 20 ounces and follow the rest with a 12 ounce bottle I have. I figure I should be swimming in now time, and at the very least staying cooler from all the water.
3- Move.
I want to join a gym but at this point in time I cannot. Mainly because I will be busy for the next few weeks, but come August, I will be going to the gym. For now I have 21 days to be dedicated to movement in the simplest form of walking. I don’t have a pedometer so I cannot measure my steps but I do have some pretty good podcasts that I like listening to. I will walk while I listen.
Lastly, this is not on my list of changes, but I am going to remind myself every day that today is day one and that it is okay to be in process and not complete. I will remember to reach out to Jesus in my weakness and use those times when I want to give in as times to seek the Lord first.
See you next Sunday. I’ll let you know how things are going. If you have any tips, please share. Thanks!
