Okay so I missed last week and I’m a day late, but I am still glad to have a chance to join in Five Minute Friday. Better late than ever edition. This means really if you’d like to, you can join in too. This week’s prompt is GREEN. You can see other posts and join in here.
I’ve got Explosions in the Sky plugged in. Let’s GO!
I had just gotten off an airplane to Hawaii when I noticed it. I turned to my mom who was pulling a suitcase. “It is so green!” I exclaimed. Up until that moment, I thought I knew what green was. I grew up in California. I was still growing up. Just 14 years old. Taking a trip to Hawaii to get some rest for my mom who was dealing with a breakup. I was stoked. It would be nice getting out of the state and away from my mom’s boyfriend. It was also exciting to visit Hawaii again. My grandparents lived there when I was younger. It had been about ten years, but I had a lot of happy memories.
The green of the grass and the green of the trees really did blow my mind. I felt like I needed a new definition of the color green. What I knew as green seemed almost brown in comparison.
I imagine this is going to be the sense when we go to Heaven. Things are going to be beyond technicolor. We are going to see things as God fully intended. That means not just our surroundings but ourselves too! Imagine how you and I would be if we hadn’t grown up in a world that had been taken over by sin and the devil? Fresh. Clean. Unbridled happiness. No waiting for the other shoe to fall. No discovering any shoe fell in the first place. Able to move without pain. Able to respond with joy because we are surrounded by LIFE.
STOP
As anxious as I am for that day when we will be safe in our Father’s arms and Heaven bound, I still want God to wait a little while longer. There are so many who do not know Jesus. Who do not know that our Heavenly Father loves them. I pray they will find out soon.

Kelly, I loved how you were blown away by Hawaii’s green as compared to California’s green. I felt the same way when I moved from Chicago to Tampa when I was a kid. It was another world. But I think the colors in heaven will be even more mind-blowing. I can’t wait to experience it!

It is so crazy isn’t it? I have never experienced anything like it. And I truly do believe we are going to be just as blown away by Heaven. Thank you so much for visiting! God bless you!
