I am so glad to be joining in another Five Minute Friday. If you haven’t yet, you should join it. Kate Motaung is a wonderful host who provides lots of encouragement to writers and a reason to write at least one week for five minutes from a one word prompt. Learn more and join us would you? You can get there and learn more from this link.
Today’s prompt is – Touch
Let’s Go!
And then she stoops. I have to say the one thing I really dig is getting the chance to stretch my mind’s muscles. This word did that in a little way. The first thing I think of with the word “touch” is how hard that can be. Touch immediately implies connection of some sort. The willingness to be open, to try, to possibly fail, but knowing that the only way to get to there from here is to take the lead and open with touch.
The Bible shares a woman had been bleeding for a long period of time. She spent much in trying to get relief and trying to find healing. Imagine opening yourself up to that vulnerable place of seeking help for what makes you unclean. No one wants to live in a permanent place of uncleanliness, and no one really wants to point out their mess. So it is perfectly understandable why this dear soul just tried to quietly make her way to Jesus in the crowd. Imagine her heart’s cry as she slowly worked her way through the crowds of people to reach to Jesus. Her only hope.
She was sure if she could reach Him, if she could simply touch the hem of her garment, she would be healed.
I have had times in my life where my need was so deep it found me crumbled on the floor with my back against the bathroom wall simply begging Jesus for healing and help through the situation. Sometimes God would work it out overnight and other times, He pointed me to a direction to receive that help. He has always been faithful in all ways.
STOP
I’m going to continue in this for a moment and encourage you to push past the uncomfortable to where God wants you to be. This coming month my radio station will be having our Spring Gift Drive. One of my duties is to get volunteers for the phones and meals for those volunteers. We are talking about 45 to 50 people needed and breakfast and lunch. I absolutely struggle with it every single year. It is hard to find people willing to give four hours to answering the phone to take gifts for a Christian radio station. People are busy. This year as much as it was tough I pushed through it, because I began to see it has a place that God was working out in me. He was inviting me to press on and push through that place of not wanting to push beyond my comfort zone AGAIN only to hear more negative replies from good folks.
I pushed through and He came through. I prayed and asked God for help doing the tough stuff (for me), and He honored every time I picked up the phone. I have two openings now. Two out of 50 feels pretty sweet. And the meals…every single one is covered! Praise God! Keep pressing on even in the hard stuff…especially through the hard stuff. God will meet you there.
See you next week!

I’m so glad God comes through!

Amen girl! Thank you for visiting!

Pressing in demands energy and belief that God is going to meet us in the desperation. It requires believing that God does indeed care. The easier thing appears to be satisfied with our situation rather than place all of ourselves before God and receive what we don’t expect.

Thank you for visiting Stephanie. You have such wisdom and a way with sharing God’s truth that fully sinks in.
