Back again on a Saturday to complete a Five Minute Friday. I don’t like being late to the party, but I am grateful to be a part of it. If you want to learn about today’s word and Five Minute Friday in general follow the link here.
The word prompt for this week’s Five Minute Friday is Place
START
Wow. I have never really thought that a word like Place would stump me for a bit but it has. I think my mind is just being filled lately with songs and jingles. The old Michael W Smith song “Place in this World” has reverberated in my mind. Specifically these words:
If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me?
My family and I are living in a camp right now. You have to drive up a lot of winding roads through forests and farms to get there and through the woods to find it. It is so woodsy that dear waltz on through the backyard as does a family of 14 wild turkeys (that makes for an interesting sight!). Its so woodsy that strange little mushrooms bob up from all kinds of places and mossy fairy homes seem to abound. Okay maybe they aren’t fairy homes, but they look like it.
From the road, you can’t see our current home. Our place in the woods. There are two trails to it. One goes in and one goes out. You can see the one that leads out fairly well IF you are looking for it. The one that goes in is not one you will find unless you look and look hard. At least until you live there. You don’t have to look as hard then, but you do have to pay attention.
In this place so out in the middle of nowhere, I have actually found myself drawing closer and closer to God. Though it takes a map to find us (GPS may or may not work) I am comforted that my Father in Heaven knows exactly where I am. He doesn’t have to hunt for me. He doesn’t have to look for me. Though I am confident if He did need to hunt for me, He would. I know He sees me.
STOP
Ahhh so glad I had a chance to come and write today. I look forward to this chance to just go and then rest in the words of so many wonderful people. Go check out Five Minute Friday here!

Visiting from next door at FMF! I was even later to the party if it makes you feel better. Your “place” sounds peaceful and lovely, but also a bit lonely (possibly). I’m glad that you’ve found comfort in God while there. Sometimes we need the quiet to hear the truth. Have a great week!

The quiet is good! And the long drive to work during the week helps too. Not terribly lonely, but it can seem like it when you have those moments of finding out things aren’t going to flow like we hoped (like when our first offer on our house decided to drop after 20 days! Yikes!), but God is always there for the tears and truly it is in those moments I have felt him so strongly.
Thanks for visiting Sue! I visited you too. Have a lovely weekend!

Sounds like a lovely place and I also find it easier to connect with God when I am away from the world. I also love the reminder that God always knows exactly where we are and always sees us.
Kelly says
It is definitely easier to connect with God when there are fewer distractions of the world that goes beyond the beauty here. I had no idea half of the things that have been on in the news. That isn’t keeping me from praying for the goings on…I just find out much later.

Wow, you make it sound so idyllic and beautiful! My mind is brimming with pictures of speckled mushrooms, thick forests and intricate fairy doors set into secret places in the woods… Sounds like things aren’t going exactly to plan, but finding the beauty in the every moment like you are doing is so amazing! xx
Kelly says
Thank you Emma. I started looking for the lovely when I realized we were in this for the moderately long haul. 🙂 I am glad I did. God is definitely ever present. Thank you for visiting!

What a blessing to read! Thank you, Kelly, for sharing your view of {place}
I bless you with a feast of JOY in Jesus.

Oh Lisa thank you for the blessing! It is always a blessing reading your comments. I pray you are having a wonderful week. I’m doing a little midweek library visit today after work (it is open until 8 a few days a week).

Your special place – home! – sounds very magical…if not very isolated:) Being such a city girl, I’m not sure I would last more than a night! Glad there is that special spot for each of us!
Kelly says
Parts of it definitely are magical. Though I did find a dead mouse just…well laying on the kitchen floor the other day. I have no idea how it got in! My cats were not too helpful, but then again maybe they were the assassins. Thanks for visiting!
