It is a beautiful Saturday in Michigan and I am praising God for the sunshine and the smell of the fresh air that we all enjoyed on the way to the library this morning. I am praising God for the library in town that offers free wifi even without buying a coffee. I am loving my community and the way it supports those who live here. It is greatly appreciated!
Today it is time to write again AND join in with Five Minute Friday with my library Saturday twist. It is a time to write for five minutes without worry about grammar and whatnot. I usually grab some pictures when I am done. You can learn about Five Minute Friday at Kate Motaung’s spot right here. Today’s word is “Support.”
START
With the word support, my mind can go far and wide. Over the past three months since we began our journey from Arizona to Michigan, we have experienced a lot of support. We have been prayed with countless times as we wait on our home to sell. We lived in my co-workers basement for over a week as we tried to find a place to call home. We received blessings of a blow up mattress and cookware to use while our stuff is in storage. People reached out without being asked and just helped out. People that we didn’t even know. That is some amazing support. In all I knew my co-worker but the others were virtual strangers, but they were brothers and sisters in Christ.
One of the sweetest is my best friend Monika. Monika is amazing. She encourages me every stinking day that I call or text. When we lived in the same town, she would counsel me when I needed support. She would say the words I needed to hear even when I didn’t want to. And when I didn’t even know it, she and her parents drove to my home in Arizona and prayed for it and us. They prayed that we would get a buyer. Not only did they pray for us, but when my realtor happened to show up because she wanted to prep the home for a showing, they prayed for her too. That is some incredible support.
STOP
I truly am continually blessed by how God has taken care of our needs during this time of faith. We know He loves us. We know He has called us here, and we know that in His timing, our home will sell. In the meantime, we have been continually reminded of how much we need God and His people. Before I go, I just wanted to share this verse that came into mind:
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone? And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.

I’m glad you’ve found people to support and help you. That is so important at times of change and uncertainty. I love how God can use people to demonstrate his love and care to us.
Kelly says
Thank you Lesley. It has been a real gift seeing how God truly has met every single need that we have. We are beyond blessed even in this lean time. 🙂 I love that it is a reminder of how he can use us too.

How wonderful that you can find the blessings and silver linings in a big life change that many people would find stressful and overwhelming. I’m sure it was both of those things, but seeking out the beauty in the people who support you makes all the difference in how we respond to our situation.
Stopping by from FMF. Good luck in your new town!
Kelly says
Thanks for stopping by Stephanie! We have definitely had our moments of tears, but we definitely realized that our focus needs to be elsewhere. Seeking out what God is doing in the midst of the storm sure is a bigger blessing! Have a lovely week!

It’s amazing who God puts in our lives to support us. I’m thankful for rain today. Hopi g it helps to put out the fires in Montana. Im in the 6 spot this week.
Kelly says
Are you in Montana, Tara? Please know we have been praying. The home we have is in Arizona and we had a huge fire issue just after we left. Thank you for visiting today.
Katha says
What a gift to have friends like this! All the best as you settle into this new place!
Kelly says
Thank you Katha. I am praying for another dear friend in this new place. Even if she isn’t just like my bestie. 🙂 Thank you for visiting.

We all need “Monikas” in our life – and I’m grateful for the ones that have blessed me along the way. As I was reading your post, I was impressed about the need to BE a Monika to others more often. Thanks for the nudge – and I will be praying that you find just the house God has for you soon.
Kelly says
I am going to have to remind my Monika of just that. As amazing as she is, she has her share of things. That is why I am so glad God put her in my life. She is a major prayer warrior for me as her whole family has been. I try to do the same for her. Thanks for visiting!

Awww, Kelly. God has met your needs in big ways! Having friends who pray is so powerful, isn’t it? Your testimony here warms my heart. I’ll pray today for your house to sell. It’s so hard to wait for the right buyer to come along. So glad you shared about how so many people have helped you guys!
Kelly says
Thank you Jeanne. God has definitely proved His faithfulness through His people. I am overwhelmed by that. Sometimes we may get too focused on some big thing we want to happen and we miss the other also big things that God is making happen.

I’m visiting from #FiveMinuteFriday link-up. In our 34 years of marriage, we have moved 14 times (11 different states). So I get the craziness of moving and getting settled into a new home, new job, new community and finding new friends.
I’m so glad that you have gotten the support that you need and I pray that God will continue to bless you in your journey!
Kelly says
Thank you so much for the encouragement Gay! I am really looking forward to the settling in part. We are so anxious at times to find our place in this town, yet we know we need to slow down a bit. Eleven states in 34 years. That is a lot of moving! I am interested in how you dove in. I am the type who needs to slowly wade in, and that is mainly a leave behind from my past I think. Thank you for dropping by. I only have internet when I visit the library, but I will definitely be coming by!
