Happy to be back and ready to jump in. Today I am joining in again for Five Minute Friday. It has been a while so please bear with me. Forgive the food pic. I’m hungry and these are the best sweet potato fries that I have had to date (got them at 7 Monks Taproom in Boyne City“. This is not about sweet potato fries, but I definitely wouldn’t have discovered how good they are if I hadn’t tried. 🙂
Today’s word (or Friday’s anyway) is “Try”
START
This is where my mind goes…little boys sitting at a kitchen table with a bowl of cereal in front of them. It is my hunger again.
“It’s supposed to be good for you.”
“I’m not gonna try it — You try it!”
“I’m not gonna try it.”
“Give it to Mikey, he hates everything.”
“He likes it! Hey Mikey!”
Yes, this is what is in my head at the word try. Mikey tried it. Mikey liked it. In fact Mikey liked it so much he didn’t even slow down for a thumbs up to his heavily accented brothers. I often wonder now if those boys were related. They looked alike and they certainly sounded alike. I wonder about Mikey too. Where is that guy now?
The thing I couldn’t understand is why did they bother giving it to Mikey if he hates everything? Mainly I figure, Mikey is like me. If someone gives me a nudge, I’ll probably try something. That is unless I feel like I might put myself in danger or perhaps that little “he hates everything” comment was meant to needle him a little bit into action. I’ll do that too.
I think I might try things a little too much though. Sometimes it is like I am at a big buffet and it all looks so good. I grab a little of this and a little of that and in the long run, I need to curb that try down to something a little smaller. A little less overwhelming. At the very least I need to not just stick with try and plant myself on “do.” Wow…just had a Yoda moment!
We can at some point I believe try too much. Try so much that we never settle on one thing or even some things. I want to become more focused this year. Even stating that is rather silly to me since we are more than half way through the year, but it is there.Â
Yes…more focus.Â
I’ll give it a shot. I’ll give it a try.
STOP
This has been my first dig back into Five Minute Friday. Something that I have missed in this relocation time of living with very little internet (library is where I am connecting right now). I am Five Minute Saturdaying it. And I am glad to be here. It is an awesome community. Join in on the word “Try” and learn more HERE.

Hi Kelly, I’m behind you @ #76 – Five Minute Saturday for me too! I love your post and congratulate you on making the effort (even going to the library for internet) to make this happen. I’m grateful for your try – for you and for the rest of us who are encouraged by the value you’ve added to our community today!
Bless you with a feast of JOY in Jesus!

Lisa, you totally bless me with your words and encouragement on posting today. Thank you for visiting. You warmed my heart! 🙂

Kelly, thanks for coming by my place – and I’m glad I came back here to read your post. My mouth literally watered at that picture of the fries!!!
And I remember that “Mikey” ad too. I know what you mean about wanting to try a number of different things — sometimes I get this scattered feeling and end up not trying anything because I just don’t know quite what to do. I want to pick a couple of priority items and try those; perhaps that’s a way of getting out of a rut without becoming completely overwhelmed and immobilized. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you for visiting Jeannie. I really appreciate it. I am hoping that if I tone down my desire to try it all, it will be a little better for me in the follow through on do side of try. Maybe I should start praying on this for my word of the year focus. 🙂

I love how your thoughts just flow so freely! Mikey! Ha! Finally someone who remembers those “older” commercials like me. 🙂 I loved this and I’m glad you are back to FMF for another “try.” xoxoxo

Awww thanks! I am happy to be back at FMF even if for now I have to read and post in the library on Saturday afternoons. It is a treat for me for sure! I hope you have a blessed week! Thanks for blessing me. 🙂
